I’d like to talk about one of my former classmates from university. He‘s someone who takes competition very seriously, whether it’s in academics, sports, or even casual games.
He tends to be competitive in almost everything he does. In class, he always wanted to get the highest score and would often compare his results with others. During group projects, he would push himself to contribute more than anyone else. Even in simple board games, he played to win rather than just for fun. For him, being second place was never good enough.
In terms of success, I would say he’s quite accomplished. He graduated with top honors and later landed a good job at a well-known company. His competitive drive has clearly paid off in his career. He’s been promoted quickly and seems to be on a very promising path.
I think his competitiveness comes from his upbringing and personal mindset. His parents were quite demanding and always encouraged him to strive for excellence. He also seems to measure his self-worth by his achievements, which pushes him to constantly outdo himself. That said, I sometimes wonder if that kind of pressure takes a toll on him, but I have to admit it’s also what makes him so successful.
