[02:23.93]LYNDA:SARA, I've heard that you want to move into a homestay family.
[02:29.58]Is that correct?
[02:30.77]SARA:Yes, that's right.
[02:32.23]I've been staying with my aunt and now my cousin is arriving from Singapore and my aunt needs the room for him.
[02:39.16]LYNDA:Oh, that's bad luck.
[02:40.96]Well, I'll need to get some particulars first.
[02:43.88]SARA, what's your full name?
[02:46.42]SARA:SARA Lim, and that's SARA without the 'h' at the end.
[02:51.40]LYNDA:Mmm.
[02:51.88]How old are you.
[02:53.42]SARA?
[02:53.69]SARA:Twenty-three, only just.
[02:56.34]It was my birthday on the twenty-first of August.
[02:59.43]LYNDA:Happy birthday for yesterday.
[03:01.81]How long have you been in Australia?
[03:03.98]SARA:A year in Adelaide and six months in Sydney.
[03:08.37]I prefer Sydney, I've got more friends here.
[03:11.62]LYNDA:What’s your address at your aunts house?
[03:14.76]SARA:Flat one, five three nine Forest Road, Canterbury.
[03:20.52]And the post code is two, o, three, six.
[03:24.33]LYNDA:OK.
[03:26.90]What are you studying now?
[03:28.12]SARA:I was studying General English in Adelaide and now I'm doing Academic English, because I'm trying to get into Medicine next year.
[03:38.15]LYNDA:That sounds good, but it'll take you a long time.
[03:42.57]When would you like to move out from your aunt's?
[03:45.25]SARA:My cousin arrives on Friday morning, so I'd better be out on Thursday.
[03:50.57]LYNDA:What, the seventh of September?
[03:53.27]SARA:Yes, that's right.
[04:27.82]LYNDA:That doesn't leave us much time.
[04:31.97]Right.
[04:33.22]OK.
[04:34.25]I need to know what kind of accommodation you'd like, so I can get you something suitable.
[04:39.10]SARA:Can I share a room with someone else?
[04:41.78]I've been alone in my room at my aunt's and I've always shared with my sister and I like that.
[04:48.52]LYNDA:Yes, fine.
[04:49.83]That'll save you money too.
[04:51.89]Would you like to live with a family or do you think that a single person would be better for you?
[04:57.70]I have lots of very nice single people on my books.
[05:00.80]SARA:Do you have any women living alone, retired women?
[05:05.23]LYNDA:Yes.
[05:06.60]I have quite a few whose children have grown up and left home.
[05:09.80]In fact, I have some really lovely retired ladies, living by themselves, who just love the company of students.
[05:17.99]Most of them live in flats, but that's not a problem for you, is it?
[05:21.41]SARA:Not at all.
[05:22.48]I'm used to that.
[05:23.39]My aunt lives in a flat too, remember.
[05:26.70]I’m not used to a big house with a garden, swimming pool, pets and all that.
[05:31.62]LYNDA:OK, fine.
[05:33.39]I know quite a bit about what you want now.
[05:36.16]I should let you know that your rent will be a hundred and sixty dollars per week.
[05:42.60]You'll have to pay me three hundred and twenty dollars as a deposit before you move in.
[05:47.93]The deposit is as insurance, in case you break something.
[05:51.92]You'll need to pay monthly to me, by cash or cheque, I don't mind.
[05:56.80]You don't need to pay for gas, electricity or water, but you will need to pay your proportion of the phone bill.
[06:04.51]Most families do that on an honour system, but you'll have to wait and see.
[06:08.92]SARA:Mmm.
[06:09.63]LYNDA:Have you got any more questions for me?
[06:12.54]SARA:When will you know where I can go?
[06:15.75]LYNDA:I'll work on it now, so come and see me tomorrow and I should have some news for you then.
[06:22.30]SARA:Thanks a lot.
[06:23.10]LYNDA:Goodbye.
[06:24.60]See you tomorrow - after lunch would be better for me.
[06:26.64]SARA:OK , see you then.
[06:28.84]Bye.
