I’d like to talk about a time I used tourist information during a trip to Xi’an. I got most of the information from a travel blog and a couple of online videos before I left.
The information was mainly about the Terracotta Army, which is obviously the biggest attraction there. I wanted to know how to get there, how crowded it would be, and whether it was worth hiring a guide. The blog also mentioned that it’s better to go early in the morning to avoid the crowds, which turned out to be really useful.
I’d say the information was extremely helpful. Without it, I probably would have gone later in the day and ended up in massive queues. The tip about hiring a guide was also spot on, because having someone explain the history behind each pit made the whole experience much more meaningful. So overall, I think doing a bit of research beforehand definitely enhanced the trip.
